This scabbard mount clearly evidences that this sword was well-worn in the field. Note the amount of wear indicated on the ring mount.
Fairly standard foliate blade etching with American shield, panoply of arms, etc.
Although this sword is unmarked, we can deduce its origin from two points. The spine of the blade is marked "Iron Proof." This would reflect manufacture in Solingen, Germany. The pommel of the sword is also decorated with flower patterns as commonly seen on other European imports.
