The brass scabbard mounts and guard are evidence that this sword was well-worn during its service.  Note the worn edges.  The scabbard is of very high grade being German Silver plate over brass.

Note the motto reverse etched on gold-washed background.  Etching is crisp and precise.  Note spider web etching patten (left of picture) usually found on high grade sword.
